Culinary & Bartenders Unions Legal Service Fund
The Legal Service Fund was developed through a partnership between the Culinary Workers Union Local 226, UNITE HERE Bartenders Union Local 165, participating employers, and Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada to help safeguard the legal and economic wellbeing of eligible employees and their families.
For hotel, casino, and other employees eligible under the Legal Service Fund, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada has a team of attorneys and advocates available to help with particular legal matters such as immigration, bankruptcy consultations, tenants’ rights and evictions, sealing criminal records, debt collection and consumer issues, wills, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and family law information, as described below. The type and level of service you’ll receive depends on the nature of your legal problem, the merits and urgency of your case, and the volume of eligible employees needing assistance, among other things. You might receive self-help services to help you represent yourself, classes and workshops to learn about the law and prepare legal forms, counsel and advice on particular questions, or other services as warranted.
Additionally, the Legal Service Fund has a Tip Earners Program, which provides legal assistance to eligible members who are being audited by the IRS due to an issue pertaining to their tips. Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada will confirm eligibility for this benefit and assist the member in understanding the documentation needed by the attorney who will evaluate what assistance can be provided.
If you meet our eligibility requirements and need assistance with other matters, call the Legal Service Fund Program directly at 702-386-1550.
