Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada has been providing legal services to victims, families and survivors of the October 1 mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival since the temporary Family Assistance Center was established shortly after the tragedy. We assisted concert goers and their families, employees, and bystanders with family law matters (from guardianship to probate), housing issues, immigration, powers of attorney, employment matters and many other legal issues. When the Family Assistance Center closed, we were asked to continue offering legal services at the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center, working side by side with partner agencies providing victim advocacy and resources to individuals and families impacted by October 1.
The partner agencies at the Resiliency Center include the State of Nevada, Clark County, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Since that time, our legal team has learned best practices related to mass violence and trauma centered care. In March 2019, Legal Aid Center took over management of the Resiliency Center at the request of Clark County. We are extremely honored to serve the community in this way.
