The State Bar of Nevada presented several Nevada organizations with grant monies from its Lawyer Referral and Information Services program at an awards ceremony last week. This year the bar was able to grant $92,500 to the following organizations/programs:

Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, for a technology and infrastructure upgrade;
Southern Nevada Senior Law Program, for a technology upgrade;
Project REAL, for the "Your Day in Court" program;
Rocky Mountain Innocence Center's Correction and Prevention of Innocent People, Wrongfully Convicted in Nevada;
Nevada Disability Advocacy & Law Center's Disability Rights Workshop;
Boyd School of Law, for its Alternative Spring Break Program; and
Lyon County CASA, for recruiting, training and monitoring volunteers.

Representatives of the southern Nevada organizations were on hand at a luncheon hosted by Clark County Bar Association (CCBA) on May 21. Those pictured in the photo (left to right) are Debra "Sam" King, Project REAL; Sheri "Sugar" Vogel, Southern Nevada Senior Law Project; Marla Kennedy, Rocky Mountain Innocence Project; presenter Katherine Provost, Vice Chair of the Lawyer Referral and Information Services Committee; James Berchtold, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada's Civil Law Self-Help Center; and CCBA President Damon Dias.

These grants are awarded annually to assist Nevada organizations in funding law-related public service and/or educational activities. Awards are made on a "funds-available" basis.
