Services Provided

To be eligible for legal assistance from the Tip Earners Program of the Legal Service Fund, an employee must have had contributions made to the fund by their employer and must have been a participant in the plan for the period covered by the IRS audit. Employees who are eligible under the Legal Service Fund Tip Earners Program can obtain the following assistance:

  • General information about IRS tip compliance and how to keep your own records that are compliant with IRS guidelines
  • Information on helpful apps such as TipSee, Tip Me, and ServerLife
  • One-on-one consultations after clinics (click here to learn about upcoming clinics)
  • Consultation and representation during the civil audit and appeal of the Revenue Agent’s Report and representation in the tax court (you won’t be eligible for benefits if the deficiency is $1,000 or less; the Trustees have discretion to decide if the benefit can exceed $10,000)
