In 2024-25, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada will early hire committed future public-interest attorneys who will provide civil access to justice to vulnerable people in Clark County, Nevada.
Mission
The mission of Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada is the preservation of access to justice and the provision of quality legal counsel, advice, and representation for individuals who are unable to protect their rights because they cannot afford an attorney.
Program Description
The Early Hire Pipeline to Justice Program is a program established in 2022 by Legal Aid Center to hire students, recent graduates, and judicial clerks interested in public interest law. Preference is given to candidates who are diverse, first-generation law students from underrepresented backgrounds, and those who speak other languages. This program benefits the vulnerable community of legal aid clients by ensuring we employ staff who better reflect our diverse community.
In September of each year, Legal Aid Center will recruit public-interest minded 3L/4L law students and recent graduates to begin working at Legal Aid Center in July following graduation. When they start in July 2025, they will receive three weeks paid time off to study and take the Nevada bar exam with the bar exam fee paid.
Judicial clerks licensed to practice can start in August at the conclusion of their clerkships.
