Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, a non-profit, public interest law firm, is seeking multiple attorneys with varying expertise to be part of a new team dedicated to providing legal assistance to hotel, casino and other workers as part of an innovative employee benefit program negotiated by the Culinary and Bartenders Unions and participating employers.  Of special interest are attorneys with prior experience in immigration law, consumer debt defense, bankruptcy, tenant’s rights, or estate planning.  Bi-lingual attorneys (English/Spanish) who are smart and eager to learn are encouraged to apply regardless of their prior areas of practice.  As part of Legal Aid Center’s new program, these attorneys will provide legal services to the workers and families who are the backbone of our community, hard-working people who might not otherwise be able to afford an attorney, to help safeguard their legal and economic wellbeing.  The ideal candidates will be intelligent, energetic, and compassionate, will possess a passion for public service and a strong commitment to justice, and will be able to thrive in a positive, client-focused, solution-oriented team atmosphere where Legal Aid Center’s mission of preserving access to justice and providing quality legal services is always front and center.

Requirements

Prefer a candidate with five years of experience in any combination of the areas listed above (immigration, consumer debt defense, bankruptcy, tenant’s rights, estate planning), but will consider candidates with similar experience who are smart, eager to learn, and have a passion for community service and a real desire to practice public interest law.  Bi-lingual (English/Spanish, English/Mandarin, English/Cantonese, English/Tagalog) a plus.  Excellent legal writing, communication, and client-relations skills a must; moot court and law review experience a plus.  Qualified candidates must possess an active/good standing bar license from any United States jurisdiction.

Salary depends upon experience with a benefits package provided, including health, dental, vision and life insurance for employees and their dependents, vacation/sick time and company matched 403b retirement plan.
