Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada provides advice, training, advocacy, and legal representation for children with disabilities who are entitled to special education services under federal and state law. Legal Aid Center seeks a law clerk who is passionate about education rights for all children and specifically, child welfare cases.

Under the direction of an attorney, the Education Advocacy Program law clerk will perform legal research, review records and files, attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and assist the staff with existing cases. The law clerk will also be instrumental in the finalization of an advocacy tool kit to empower families and providers in advocating for children with special needs. The assistance the clerk will provide has the potential to significantly affect the lives of children with disabilities and children in the foster care system. This is a research intensive internship so good legal research skills are essential.  The time commitment is a minimum of 15 hours per week under public interest grants if applicable, or at the pay rate of $18.00 per hour.
