Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, a private, non-profit law firm, has an immediate opening for a full-time, Independent Living Advocate to assist attorneys with their clients who are aging out of the foster care system.
Duties
- Checking-in every six weeks with clients, including those who reside outside of Nevada
- Reviewing youth/young adult cases in case management system and Odyssey prior to contacting the client
- Assisting clients as needed, including researching school and community resources and providers in-state and out-of-state (e.g., trade schools, colleges, FAFSA support, etc.)
- Emailing caseworkers to obtain updated contact information
- Participating in IL Transition Planning Child and Family Team ("ILTP CFT" 30 days prior to the client aging out) meetings with the assigned attorney
- Updating the client's demographics in case management system and entering notes after meetings with clients
- Performing other duties as assigned
Successful candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, be a team player, be dependable and organized, detailed oriented, and be able to move between files/projects easily. Excellent legal writing skills are a must. A bilingual candidate (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.

Salary & Benefits
Starting salary range is $39,000.00 to $52,000.00 depending on experience, with annual increases available. Our excellent benefits are effective on date of hire and include:
