The Consumer Rights Project at Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to provide creative and zealous advocacy and direct representation to low income clients in cases involving fraud and deceptive trade practices, payday/title loans, vehicle purchase and repair, real estate issues and debt collection defense. The attorney will seek to minimize the financial harm to clients in precarious situations as well as seek redress from defendants who continuously prey on the poor in violation of the law to maximize their own profits. The attorney will also assist in community outreach to educate the community about their rights and assist other attorneys in the unit.

The Consumer Rights attorney can engage in cutting edge litigation, including class action litigation. The program attorney also has the opportunity to advocate for statutory reforms to promote economic justice for low-income consumers, guard against unfair and predatory legislation, and address critical and systemic issues impacting low income and vulnerable populations. The attorney can also develop working relationships with policymakers and stakeholders at the state and federal level on consumer protection issues.

The ideal candidate is committed to public interest law and community service and has the desire to work with and zealously advocate for our clients. Some litigation experience is helpful.
